I love granola - it is my one true love in life. I have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in-between. But you know what the problem with supermarket granola is? They are pure sugar and very overpriced - how much can one charge for some oats with nuts?

No, thank you.

Making granola at home seems to be an increasingly popular trend, so I decided to join it. Now, I am not the best cook and I do tend to mess things up often but this is so easy not even I could mess it up. I didn't follow any exact recipe - I half asked my sister how she made it and used that as a guide and half added what I had around at home. 

I have made this a few times and I would like to think I am the granola queen now. This is by far the best granola I have had as I get to only add what I like and I am not stuck with boring sultanas or Brazilian nuts (which I hate).

It only takes about 20 min to make, here's what you will need:

Whole oats
Whole almonds
Dark chocolate
Chia seeds
Coconut Oil
Anything else that you like in your granola

Before I even start making my granola, I like to toast my almonds by simply putting them on a tray and baking them at 50˚C  for about 15-20min. 

Whilst they are cooling I put my oats on a baking tray. Depending on how muck granola I want to make I'll use more or less (duuuh). Then, I'll add loads of cinnamon, like honesty so much cinnamon it is a bit concerning. It is up to you how much you add, but if you are like me and are a big fan of the spice then I recommend adding loads as after baking it you can't taste it that much. I also add around half a teaspoon of nutmeg to add some more flavour, I am not very big on nutmeg but if you are obviously feel free to add more! 

Then I add around two tablespoons of chia seeds - you can't really taste them when eating the granola but they are meant to be very good for your health (and I accidentally bought loads so need to use them up...).

Finally I add some honey, add more or less depending on how sweet you want it to be, and about a tablespoon of coconut oil. What these two ingredients do is bring the oats together and help them form a cluster. The easiest thing is to use your hands to mix it all together but you can also use a spoon if you are not into getting dirty. Finally, I add the lightly roasted almonds. And yes I do bake the almonds twice because I like them extra roasted to match my extra personality.

Once everything is well-mixed, I bake it at 200˚C for 15-20min (keep an eye on it as it can burn very easily!) and then let it cool.

I love dates so I alway chop up some dates and some dark chocolate and add it to the cooled down granola. I have made the mistake of adding it whilst it's still hot and the chocolate melts (obviously) and  makes such a mess! So learn from my mistakes. 

This has literally been my favourite thing recently and it is so so so easy to make!

Am I a lazy person? Not really (or at least that's what I like to believe). However, it is extremely easy to get lazy and lay in bed for endless hours watching the most random YouTube videos. 

We all know how it starts. 

"I'll lay down for a min"

"Just one more video and then I'll clean my room"

"Okay, this is the last episode and then I will do the dishes"


It's never going to be just one video, or just one episode, or just a 5 min scroll on Instagram. Why? Because being lazy is so easy. During the past few years of my life being lazy has not really been an option, university was hectic and veeeeeery time-consuming. Therefore, the little spare time that I had had to be used to do life admin, see friends, workout, cook and survive. 

Once I graduated I re-discovered the luxury that free time is and oh boy was I confused. What are you meant to do with free time? Are you meant to be social, relax, sleep?!!! 

So I became lazy very quickly. I was like a child who was surrounded by sweets after not having been allowed to have sugar for a year (okay, maybe that is a bit dramatic but you get the idea). After work, I could easily spend hours just watching Netflix for hours on end. 

After a few weeks (okay, maybe months) I decided that I should be investing this time in something a bit more....interesting and fruitful. So I joined a gym, I started blogging again, I read books, I listened to podcasts, I saw more friends, I started journaling. 

I started doing so many thing once I had stopped doing that one thing, which was clearly very time consuming. I guess it is quite obvious, but it was so eye opening to me. I had spent so many hours essentially wasting my time.

As soon as I started doing more and more I just wanted to do even more. Once I started doing side projects and picking up new and old hobbies I couldn't have enough. I did not only had so much more energy and motivation, but I also learnt to enjoy and appreciate my lazy time more. Watching Netflix was a now a treat, and that meant that I enjoyed it so much more. 

I guess the point of this post is to encourage you all to use your time wisely and to do things that you enjoy but that will also help you grow and develop. The more energy that you put into something, the more energy you will get out of it. 

A few hours of Netflix a week never hurt nobody though...

A week ago today it was International Women's Day, and I don't think I  had ever had such an inspiring morning. Nothing major happened, there was no crazy surprise or unexpected thing.

It was just Instagram. 

Every morning,  I like to catch up on what my friends have been up to and check out some of my favourite Instagramers' content. My feed is usually packed with blue waters, stunning sunsets, smiley people and beautiful moments captured forever. 

On March, 8th I woke up to a slightly different feed.  I woke up to empowering messages, powerful quotes, and inspiring women all over social media. Both men and women, everyone was coming together, raising their voices and  fighting for equality. 

It was so uplifting  to see so many people, specially all of my closest friends,  empowering each other and just being total badass bosses in general. It made my morning, it made me happy. 

And that got me thinking. 

Why is it that we don't share things like this on a daily basis, why do we save it for that one day of the year? I'm not saying there is anything wrong with posting that incredible shot you got in The Maldives or Maui (deep down we all want to see it and live vicariously through you), but we should also use our platforms to do something more than post aesthetically pleasant photos. 

I am definitley guilty of this, I like to carefully curate my feed so that it portrays my best life. But imagine if we all decided to use our influence (whether we have 30 followers or 30,000) to raise awareness for those issues that we care about. We could make such a difference. 

Even something as little as leaving a nice comment, or simply not leaving a nasty comment, can change someone's life. Giving shoutouts to those people that inspire you, that empower you every day, whether that's online or in real life. This is what we should be focusing on. 

This can most definitley co-exist with any other content we are sharing now, they are not mutually exclusive. It is just a little addition, adding our little grain of salt to make the world a better place. Just think about it.

Do I have enviably clear smooth perfect skin? Absolutely not. 

But I do have generally okay skin that is clearer and looks brighter than it has before. So I consider that to be a pretty good achievement.

Everyone has struggled with some sort of skin issue at some point in their lives, whether that is hardcore acne or simply a few rednesses or pimples. I have been blessed enough to never have struggled with serious acne, but I have definitley had my battles with rednesses, spots and other skin annoyances. 

A few years ago, my take on skincare products was the following: the more the merrier. I had an extensive skincare routine with all sorts of creams, toners, cleansers, etc. Now, let me tell you something; unless you are extremely committed to your skin and have a lot of free time in your hands, you are not likely to stick to a 30min skincare routine every day. I know I didn't. 

It is not about putting all sorts of magical products on your skin, it is about finding what works and sticking to it. Over the past few years I have stuck to the following three rules and it has proven to do wonders to my skin. 


You have heard it a million times, but I bet you still don't do it. I am the least thirsty person in this world (*smug face emoji*) - I can go an entire day without drinking any water and I won't even notice it. But your body needs water, your skin needs water. 

It helps flush out toxins which in turn results in clearer skin. Otherwise, all these waste products are accumulated under your skin causing the nasty breakouts. Obviously water is not going to give you flawless glowing skin overnight, but it is a good place to start.


In order to help your skin, you need to get to know it. What works for me, will not work for you. Do you have oily skin, dry skin, combination skin, irritated skin, etc? 

Once you find out what kind of skin you are dealing with you will know how to take care of it. The key skincare product is moisturiser. If you are going to use just one product, this is the one to go for. But make sure you use the right one. 

For years, I used light moisturisers in an attempt to make my skin look as matte as possible. BIG MISTAKE. I have very dry skin that needs rich moisturisers, using light moisturisers just made my skin more oily as it was trying to make up for the lack of moisture.  


I cannot stress this enough. No matter how tired I am (or how drunk I am) I will never go to sleep with my make up on.  Since I do wear some make up most days I like to at least let me skin breath at night.

I used to hit the gym with make up on as I would always go straight after uni or work and it was effort to take make up wipes with me. This caused me so many break outs, literally so many. It took me a while to realise it was because I was clogging my pored with a mixture of sweat and foundation #gross. 

So now you know folks, if you want to hit the gym make sure you have some cleansing wipes with you!
