HOW TO MAKE THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE EVER

Hello guys! Correct me if I’m wrong but everyone loves drinking a good hot chocolate in winter, and even more when it’s all Christmassy and festive outside. Over the years (well more like 2 years) I’ve tried to nail my recipe to make the best hot chocolate ever and I think I’ve found it. WARNING: this is definitely not a healthy recipe, in fact, it’s anything but healthy)

What you’ll need

SEMI-SKIMMED MILK
CADBURY’S HIGHLIGHTS COCOA POWDER
CINNAMON
HONEY
MARSHMALLOWS
NUTELLA

How to do it

  1. Heat up your milk  until it’s quite hot not just warm.
  2. Add 2tsp of the cocoa powder
  3. Add 1tsp of honey, a tsp of nutella and a dash of cinnamon. Stir until the nutella and honey have melted and are completely mixed.
  4. Put as many marshmallows as you like on top (you could use whipped cream as well, but I’m not a fan of it so that’s why I don’t use it) and enjoy your work of art!

OUTFIT IDEAS || AUTUMN/THANKSGIVING

Okay so this post was meant to go up on Wednesday but I kind of forgot... oops. Even though these are outfits I put together specially for Thanksgiving they could work for any family dinner or not too fancy event coming up!
Hello! So today I am here to bring you some inspiration. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I'm sure you all Americans are getting excited about all the delicious food you're going to eat (I am indeed jealous...). But you should keep something else in mind other than the food, and that's your outfit. You, of course, want to look cute but you also want to be comfortable as I know you're gonna go crazy at the dinner table. That is exactly why I put these two outfits together!
The first one is a bit more casual and the second on is on the fancier side but you can change the heels for flats and for a not so fancy cross body bag to dress it down. Also, by adding a pair of heels and maybe a gold necklace you could make the first outfit look much fancier.

Top:Mango
Jeans:John Lewis
Watch:Invaluable
Handbag: Givenchy
Booties: Oasis

Dress: New Look
Necklace: Express
Boots: Fashion Union
Watch: Invaluable
Cross Body Bag: Ted Baker
As you can see I used the same watch for both outfits. This is actually a men's watch from a website I recently came across -Invaluable.com- but despite it being for men I love it and think would look great on a women if styled properly and with the right outfit.
Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year?

MOCKINGJAY PART I || REVIEW

I am going to be honest, I did not have high expectations at all for that movie. Why? You may ask. Well, having read the book I didn't think there was enough content to split it into two movies. I was afraid the movie was going to move too slowly to the point it would become boring. Things like that happened when I watched HP and the Deathly Hallows Part I or Braking Dawn Part I and in those cases both books had much more content. However, the movie was much much better than what I expected. I still think it would have been better to make it just in one movie but what can I do?

The adaptation from the books was marvellous, like all THG movies. They included all the important bits and didn't make any major change which is great. The acting was outstanding, mainly Jennifer's and Josh's. When I 'know' an actor or an actress I find it more funny than dramatic when they try to be dramatic (SPOILER: like when Peeta tries to kill Katniss) but I think they both nailed it. Throughout the movie I was really transported to Panem and lived the revolution with them, I felt the fear, the anger and the hunger for freedom all the rebels felt. I also have to say I was impressed by how brutal the movie was, I of course knew what was going to happen but seeing it on screen shocked me.

I personally thought it was a great movie and an amazing adaptation of the book. If you haven't seen it yet you definitely should!!

Do you like The Hunger Games? Are you team Gale or team Peeta?

GIFT IDEAS FOR SISTERS || CHRISTMAS

Hello people! It's time for my first Christmas post of they year!! Yaaay! If you love Christmas as much as I do you are probably getting quite excited about it and have already started thinking some presents idea for your friends and family. When it comes to buying presents for my family, I always struggle - let's face it, buying presents for other people is harder than what it seems. But do not worry, I am here to help you. I'm going to do a series of posts giving you guys presents ideas for you parents, sisters, brothers, friends... This is the first one and it will probably be quite useful if you don't know what to get for your sister.

1.Make up, of course don't buy make up to your sister if she's,  I don't know, 5 years olds. But if your sister is a teenager/woman or is just into make up you can never go wrong with a fancy lipstick or a nice eyeshadow palette. If I'm buying make up I usually go for lipstick as it's easy to find a shade they'll like and they are not too expensive.

2. Phone cases. People, and by people I mean me and most girls I know, love getting new cases for their phone. The reason is simple, if you put a new case on your phone it almost looks like it's a brand new phone. You can get very cool one from eBay or brands like Wildflower Cases.

3. Merch. If your sister is into bands, singers, youtubers, movies... she will probably love you if you  get her some merch like hoodies, t-shirts, beanies, etc. However, if you were to buy merch, I wouldn't buy the 'official' one as it tends to be quite overpriced, you can get nice merch from eBay and it's not as expensive.

4. Socks. I know what you're thinking: 'aren't socks the worst thing you can get for anyone?'. Well, if you get them plain boring socks the answer is yes, they are. However, if you get them cool socks (Toyshops has very very cool socks...) it's not such a bad present. To be honest, I would like to get cool funky socks for Christmas.

5.Candles. Who does not love candles in winter? They make the whole room smell fantastic and there are so many scents you will sure find one your sister likes. If you can't decide on one, get her a few! She will be even happier!

6.Mugs. What I love the most about Christmas is drinking hot chocolate every single day. To do that you of course need a mug, the coolest the mug is, the better the hot chocolate tastes - it's as simple as that.

7. Picture frame. If you want something a bit more personal you can print off your favourite pictures of you two together and put them in a big nice frame and give it to her for Christmas.  It's a very easy and inexpensive gift but very cute at the same time.

8. Food. Everybody loves food so if you really don't know what to get for your sister, buy a bunch of sweets, chocolates and food she likes and put it in a nice box. It's always nice to get free food.

What's on your Christmas list?

AUTUMN TAG || GUEST POST

Hey, everyone! It's Kate from My So Called Life.

The nights are drawing in, it's officially cosy jumper weather and the glittery eyeshadow make-up looks are out in full force, which can only mean one thing... Autumn is officially here. I don't know why, but this year I've just been loving Autumn! I recently stumbled across an Autumn Tag, so figured it was only fitting to share it with you all.

1. OK, we're talking coffee's - what's your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?
I don't actually go to any of these places! Talk about falling at the first hurdle. I'm all about just a plain, ordinary coffee or a hot chocolate though.

2. Accessories - what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
Boots and Snoods. I don't seem to suit any form of hats (sob) and find gloves to annoying, plus you can easily transform any outfit with some boots and a snood! H&M always have a great selection of both, as do Bershka and Stradivarius.

3. Music - what's your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
I have such a wide taste in music that it doesn't  really tend to change much throughtout the year. I have noticed that I've been listening to slightly slower songs with a deeper meaning recently though, whether that's a coincidence or not, I don't know. I've also had BeyoncĂ© - Haunted on repeat!

4. Perfume - what's your favourite scent for this time of year?
DKNY - Be Delicious. It's probably my favourite perfume in the entire world, and I love the body lotion that matches too!

5. Candles - what scents will you be burning this season?
I am partial to a Jo Malone candle, though I just can't bring myself to buy them. Paying 70€ for something that could last just three weeks just doesn't work when you're on a strict student budget.

6. What do you love most about Autumn?
Autumn is made for cosy nights in, whether it be with friends or a partner, snacking, watching films and late night chats. Curling up in front of an open fire is option, and something I do every night. Fluffy socks and pyjamas are also a must. I am currently missing out on the leaves changing colour though. Living in Spain, they tend to be green during this time of the year and then go a hideous brown colour in the Summer.

7. Favourite makeup look?
Dark lips and smoky eyes, a look loved by most, I'm sure. I'm loving the darker colours in the NARS Audacious collection but can't bring myself to spend that much on a lipstick so, for now at least, I'll stick to my trusty Sephora Rouge Cream lipstick in the shade Crush.

8. What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
Is it really bad that the think I'm looking forward to most is a TV show? I'm A Celebrity returned last week, so I'm just looking forward to curling up in front of the first with some hot chocolate and watching that. If you've ever watched the show, you'll understand why. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the lead up to December and how excited everyone is getting about Christmas.

Tag - you're it!
Let us know in the comments if you do it.

THE SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD

Hello!! Thank you so much to Mire and Caro from robberscorner (you should definitely check their blog out) for tagging me to do the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award.

The Rules:
-Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site
-Put the award logo on your blog
-Answer the ten questions that have been set you
-Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer
-Nominate ten people
-HAVE FUN

Mire and Caro's Questions:

1. What is your all time favourite beauty product?
My MAC lipstick in Lovelorn, I literally wear it every single day!

2. If you were to shop at only one store for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?
Either Zara or H&M as they are both affordable and I love their clothes!

3. What is your favourite way to style your hair?
Au natural. I never do anything to my hair - I wake up, shake my head and if it looks very bad I'll throw on a beanie.

4. A new product you're loving recently? (it can be anything!)
Benefit's They're Real! Push-Up Liner. I got a travel size sample and I really love it, I might even buy the full-size one if it's not too overpriced.

5. Favourite nail varnish brand?
Barry M. They literally have any shade you could imagine and are so cheap! I also like Essie but I think their nail polishes are way overpriced as the quality is not that great.

6. What's your favourite make up brush to use for foundation?
Real Techniques expert face brush.

7. 3 beauty must haves?
Concealer, Mascara and tinted lip balm.

8. Would you rather go out on the town, or have a quiet night in?
Right now, a quite night in. It's so cold that I really hate going out at night but if it's not freezing, I rather go out with my friends.

9. What do you use to take your make-up off at the end of the day?
I use Simple's Cleansing Foam and Garnier's Eye Make-Up Remover.

10. Your favourite Christmas film?
Either Elf or Santa Clause 2.

My Questions:

1. What was the last film you watched?
2. What's your favourite Christmas drink?
3. Name your three most recent purchases.
4. Who's your MCM?
5.Why did you start blogging?
6. Favourite trend for this A/W?
7. Favourite app?
8. Do you usually buy fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle...?
9. Who's your biggest inspiration?
10. What are you most looking forward to?

I am not going to nominate anyone in particular as I really don't know who to nominate. However, if you want to do this consider yourself tagged by me and let me know in the comments! :)

COLOUR IS THE NEW BLACK THIS SEASON

With the weather getting colder and the days getting gloomier and shorter we tend to wear darker looks. Having only bought black and burgundy jumpers this season I can’t lie,  I am one of these people - however, wouldn’t it be nice to wear a sparkle of colour more often than not? I am not talking about going full on and wearing a neon dress to work, no, I’m talking about small details that can completely change a boring and repetitive look.

METAL EYELINER. Instead of wearing the same old black eyeliner (not that there is something wrong with it) switch to a silver or gold eyeliner. It will completely change your make up look and will frame your black eyelashes perfectly.

PASTEL TRENCH COEATS. Unless you’ve been hiding at home ever since summer, you will have noticed that trench coats are everywhere, they are the must-have piece of this season. Change the classic beige or grey trench coat for a pastel pink, lilac or even yellow one. It will make you look much more sophisticated and less boring!

EMBROIDERED JEWELLERY. When you really fancy wearing an all black look, try adding a piece of embroidered jewellery to add that splash of colour. Don’t be afraid to go with a crazy piece, if you’re wearing simple clothes, it will not look too crowded.

What is your favourite trend for this season?

HOW TO: BOOK CHEAP FLIGHTS

Hello people! Over the last year or so I’ve booked quite a few flights as I study abroad and I go home every few months. Flights are not cheap unfortunately, but if you follow some tips you can get them at a reasonable price and by that I mean for a price that is not outrageous.

1.Choose your dates wisely. I think that goes without saying, flying on Tuesday is far more expensive than flying on Friday or Saturday. If you can choose always go for weekdays and dates that aren’t close to popular holidays like Christmas, New Year’s Eve, spring break… . To sum it, try to fly when most people are not flying.

2. Choose your airline depending on how you’re travelling.  If you’re bringing heavy suitcases or special equipment you might want to look into ‘expensive’ airlines like British Airways as sometimes it is cheaper than low cost companies that make you pay like £30 for a suitcase.

3. Book your flights at the right time. It is proven that if you book your flights too early -more than 5 months in advance- or too late - within 14 days -, you are likely to pay more than usual.

Getting cheap flights is amazing and we all want it but also bear in mind comfort. If a flight at 6am is £90 and the  one at 11am is £100, it might be worth it paying those extra £10 and not having to pull an all nighter or struggling to get to the airport because there is no public transport (It's not fun, trust me, I speak from experience).

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

Hello guys! It's time for another outfits of the week. The col has recently hit London properly and it's been freezing. All of the outfits you will now see is what I wear under my massive cosy coat, I'm not showing it here because if I did it would look like I am wearing the same outfit every day!

MONDAY
Monday was a pretty fun day despite the fact I had to go to uni. First of all, I got to wear some of my new clothes I had bought on Sunday and on top of that I went to the Mockingly Part I premier in London. I didn't go to the 'proper' premiere, I mean, I didn't go to see the movie or anything but I tried to at least see some of the actors. But, the best part was that I MET MARCUS BUTLER. He was so nice!
Jumper: H&M
Shirt: Primark
Jeans: Pull&Bear
Scarf: Forever 21
Shoes: Converse

TUESDAY
On Tuesday I only left the house to go buy ice cream so  that explains my lazy and comfy outfit.

Sweater: H&M
Leggings: H&M
Boots: H&M
WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday I went to a few tutorials so I decided to ditch the sweatpants to make it seem like I at leas have some sort of interest and can be bothered to put some clothes on in the morning.
Jumper: Pull&Bear
Jeans: Pull&Bear
Scarf:H&M
Boots: H&M
THURSDAY
On Thursday I didn't have uni again so I spent the day at home doing some uni work and chilling with  my flatmates whilst eating Ben&Jerry's.
Hoodie: GAP
Jeans: Pull&Bear
Socks: New Look
FRIDAY
On Friday I did have uni but as it was Friday I decided to go for a simple look that didn't require me to use my brain t 7:30 in the morning.

MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MASCARA

Hello people! Even though I do I love make up, I go for a very simple and natural look most days, meaning that I only use a few basic products - foundation, bronzer, mascara and not much more. Therefore, if when one of the products I use is very good I can easily see it as it stands out. At the moment that amazing product is Maybelline's The Falsies Mascara.

I have been using this mascara for several months and I've talked a lot about it here on my blog. This is literally the best mascara I have ever tried (and I've tried quite a few) by far. I don't have infinite lashes and they are not very thick/dark so a good mascara is everything to me. This one not only lengthens my lashes but makes them appear much blacker and thicker. However, it does not look too clumpy or overdramatic. I use it on both my upper and bottom lashes and I feel like it really opens up and defines my eyes, much better than other drugstore mascaras.

I have the waterproof version and it could literally stays on for days if I didn't use a make up remover so you won't have to worry about it smudging and making you look like a racoon. However when you do want to take it off your regular make up remover won't work so you'll need to use an eye-makeup remover for waterproof mascara. I use Garnier's and it works perfectly fine, it removes it easily and I don't need to use a lot of product.

So there you have it, my all time favourite mascara. What's yours?

RECENT OBSESSIONS #3

Hey there!! Around a month ago I did a post on my ‘recent obsessions’ which I really enjoyed doing so I thought I would turn it into a monthly thing. It would be something like  ‘favourites  of the month’ but a bit more different. Anyway, this is what I’ve been loving for the past few weeks.

1.Alexander Wang x H&M. I know the collection only came out a few days ago but I am so obsessed with it. It sold out so quickly though, so I wasn’t able to get anything which makes me very sad.

2. 1989 by Taylor Swift. Can I just say this is probably the best album that has come out this year. I love every single song but my two favourites are Welcome To New York and Blank Space.

3.Christmas drinks. Now that Halloween is over and that Starbucks have all their christmas out I’ve been feeling a bit more festive and been drinking Eggnog Lattes and Almond and Honey Hot Chocolates maybe a bit too often.

4. FOUR by One Direction. This is probably no surprise at all, I mean, I've loved 1D for the longest time so of course I'm also gonna love their new album. But, I must say Midnight Memories is still my favourite album of the boys.

So this is all I’ve been obsessed with recently, what have you been loving?

UNIVERSITY INTERVIEWS || TIPS

Hello guys!! So it is now that time of the year when people start sending all their university applications and some of them have already applied and did quite a while ago (good for you!!). I went through that process two years ago (I honestly can’t believe it was that long ago, I don’t feel that old) so I kind of know what I’m talking about, I think. A few weeks ago I made a post on how to write a personal statement (here) so if you want some tips you should go check it out. Today’s post is going to be about uni interviews. I know not al the universities have interviews and that many of you might not have to go to one - consider yourself lucky - but for those of you who have one coming up in the next few months here are some tips.

1.Google the university. Interviews from Cambridge are gonna be a bit different from other universities. So try to find current students from that university (or from a similar university) who are talking about their interview, there are plenty of forums online for that so I’m sure you’ll find something. This way you sort of know what to expect and won’t be as nervous.

2.Don’t overstudy. I personally didn’t study at all for my interview as i was too busy trying to pass my high-school exams to worry about uni but I know most people do study before their interview. I’m not saying don’t study at all like me, but don’t stress out too much, juts make sure you know what you are meant to know i.e A-Level stuff if you are from the UK. I can’t talk for other unis or other degrees but in my interview (for chemistry at Imperial College London) they cared more about how I reacted when I was asked something I didn’t know than whether I knew the answer or not. In fact, most of  the questions I was asked were beyond my knowledge and I was not meant to know the right answer.

3.Show interest. They already know you want to study at that university, otherwise you wouldn’t be there but so do all the other students getting interviewed and not all of them will get in. If you have the opportunity, let them know how much you want to get in and how passionate you are about what you want to study. However, don’t be too obvious.

4.Dress nicely. That goes hand by hand with my previous point. If you turn up in sweats they will see that as you not caring about the interview so if you don’t care about them, why would they care about you? I wore black skinny jeans, a nice sweater and flats. That’s what most people wore but some guys were wearing suits and I remember a girl was wearing heels.

5.Common Questions. As I said before questions will vary a depending on the university and the degree you close but there are some general questions that are quite likely to come up:

-Why do you want to study that degree?
-Why do you want to study at that university?
-If you are from abroad, do you think you’re gonna be fine living so far away from     home?

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert in uni interviews nor did I nail mine (in fact I think I messed up quite a bit) but I got into the uni so I guess I didn’t do too bad.

If you’ve had one, how was your uni interview? Are you applying to uni this year?

NIGHT IN ESSENTIALS

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only who when it's rainy and cold outside loves to have a night ins, whether that's with friends or by myself. There is nothing better than getting in bed with a warm drink, a nice and fluffy blanket and watch your favourite movie for the 80th time. I love having a quiet nigh every now and then, mainly when I've had quite a stressful week at uni. Here are my essentials for those nights:

1. BLANKET. This is the most essential essential. Everyone need a big fluffy blanket for those cold nights in. I like to always have two just in case, you know, it's very important.

2. BOOKS. We all love watching one movie after another but it's nice to take a break from technology every once in a while  and read a nice book. The last book I read was Brunette Ambition by Lea Michele, I would describe it as a lifestyle book and it's pretty much perfect for nights in as, amongst other things, she explains what she does to relax and to pamper herself.

3. HOT DRINK. That can be either tea, chocolate or even coffee. I always have chocolate as I'm not a fan of any of the other two. Also, hot chocolate is something I only drink during winter so it makes me feel cosier.

4. LAPTOP. I know I've said that it's nice to take a break from technology every once in a while but that break doesn't have to be 10 hours long. Let's face it, there's nothing better than getting into bed and watch your favourite movie whilst sipping some delicious hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon.  Am I right ladies?

5. SNACKS. When I have a night in I normally say up until later than usual watching movies, reading books or doing whatever so I tend to get hungry. When you get hungry you have two options - eat something healthy or eat something unhealthy. That is just personal preference but I try to go for something in the middle like some chocolate cereal bars or maybe a bagel with jam. But of course I also go for cookies many many other times.

6.CANDLES. Nothing screams cosy night in like scented candles. I am obsessed with candles and I'm always burning them like crazy. I am currently burning a 'Swee Pineapple and Ginger' one and omg it smells so nice, I know it's a weird scent but it's GREAT.

What are your night in essentials?
