Hello everyone! Even though make up seems like a rather modern thing with all these 'anti-aging' foundations and magic matte powders or waterproof lip stains that are impossible to remove, it is actually a very old thing that has been around ever since the very old years. In a moment of boredom I did some research on the history of cosmetics and found some interesting facts that I though I would share with you:

1. Ancient Egyptians and Cleopatra were one of the first people to ever use cosmetics and it was in 4000 B.C! They would fill in their eyebrows and line their eyes with Kohl - a cream made from the fat of sheep mixed with powdered lead or antimony and shoot.

2. Nail polish was originate in China in 3000BC. The Chinese created nail lacquer from egg whites, beeswax, gum and coloured powder.

3. In ancient Greece light hair was perceived as beautiful because it was very exotic as not many people were blonde. Women would lighten their hair using plant extract or arsenic. The washed their hair with a mixture of ashes, olive oil and water.

4. During Renaissance, Italian women created the ultimate red lip and cheek stain by mixing cochineal, sandalwood or cinnabar with wax or grease. It was very hard to apply but the colour lasted for over a week even if the women washed her face every single day!

5. The first mascara was created by Eugene Rimmel in the 19th century. In fact, countries like Spain use the word 'Rimmel' to refer to mascara. Mascara means mask or stain in languages like Spanish or Portuguese.

Do you know any interesting facts about cosmetics?

Hello there! So now that Christmas is over, it's time to think about New Year's Eve, the next big party! I don't think I'm the only who stresses out over what outfit I'm going to wear or what shoes should I pair my new dress with. This year I decided not to go too overboard and opt for a nice dress and a pair os black booties.
Zara is my all time favourite store (living in Spain, it's safe to say there is a Zara store in every street and it's quite cheap compared to other high-street stores) and it's where I go to when I need some fancy outfit. I selected my favourite dresses for NYE and even though I will not be wearing any of these, I do think they look lovely and would love to!
Something I have about NYE outfits is that I often buy a gorgeous dress and only wear it that night as it's usually too much to wear to any other kind of event. However, all of these dresses are quite fancy but not to the point where you can't find another occasion to wear it.
What are you wearing on NYE?

Hello there everybody! Due to the finals I have after Christmas holiday this is probably gonna be one of my lasts posts until January the 20th, when i finish my exams. I’m literally gonna spend the next few weeks locked in my room revising like there is no tomorrow, sounds fun doesn’t it? Anyway, I’ll stop rambling now. Today’s post is going to be about my favourite food to eat during the holidays. I don’t know what I love more, Christmas food or Christmas presents. Here are my favourite foods:

TURRÓN.  This is a Spanish food. It’s made out of almonds, honey and sugar and it tastes like heaven. It’s something a tiny bit similar to marzipan but better. If you don’t like it I’m not sure we can be friends.

MARZIPAN. To be fair, I love anything that tastes like almonds ot has almonds in it so obviously I like marzipan as well. I like the ones that are tinted and have cute shapes!

CHURROS WITH CHOCOLATE. Oh my godness, if heaven exists then I think I’ve found it. Churros themselves are amazing but when you dip them in hot thick chocolate, oh boy! It tastes like unicorns and rainbows!

MASHED POTATOES. I used to eat mashed potatoes quite often when I lived at home but now I only get to eat them when I go back for the holidays and we normally have it on either Christmas’ Eve or Christmas Day.

CHRISTMAS SOUP. I’m pretty sure this is a Spanish thing as well. It’s basically soup with weirdly shaped pasta that’s stuffed with meat. I don’t know, we’re weird.

And these are my favourite foods to eat during the holidays! What are yours?

Hello! If you like Christmas as much as I do you are probably getting super excited and have 0 motivation to work or study. Some people are lucky and get to have a break for the holidays to relax and spend some time at home. Other people (like me) have finals right after the holidays so have no other choice but to work and be productive during the break. I had to do that last year as well and will have to do it for the next three Christmas at least. If you are like me and have to study or get a lot of things done in the following weeks here are some tips to help you keep motivated.

WAKE UP EARLY. That is hard and might not sound very appealing but when you get everything done by noon and have the rest of the day off to meet friends and watch Christmas movies you'll be happy you woke up early.

GIVE YOURSELF SOME BREAKS. Even if you are tight on time and you're getting stressed out give yourself some days off, ideal days are days like Christmas, New Year's Eve, etc.

START EARLY. If you have finals as soon as you go back to school try starting to revise a few weeks before instead of the 4 days before your first day as even thought you will have enjoyed your holidays you will regret it when you see the amount of notes you have to memorise in 24hours.

Hello guys! It’s time for another post about my recent obsessions. I’ve been quite busy lately with uni but of course I’ve still managed to obsessed over too many things.

1.Checked scarfs. I bought a green and black checked scarf and my mom gave me hers (thank you mommy) when she came visit me so now I have two scarfs that I literally wear at least 5 times a week. I am not ashamed.

2.Brandy Melville. I've always heard people rave about Brandy and how amazing the clothes were. However, I never got to buy anything other than a bralet as jumpers are a bit overpriced. About  month ago I went there with my mom and she decided to make me happy and bought me a jumper and a cropped long-sleeved t-shirt. These are my most-worn items now, they are so comfy and warm but at the same time cute. One word: A-MA-ZING.

3.Christmas Songs. OF COURSE. I mean, it’s almost Christmas so why would I not listen to Christmas songs? I made a playlist on Spotify with all the Christmas songs I like and it’s all I’ve been listening to whilst doing my homework since early November. Again, I am not ashamed.

4. Snow. Okay this is a weird on. I split my time between London and the Balearic Islands and it doesn’t snow in neither of those places so how could I even be obsessed with snow? Well, the Christmas season is here and I WANT SNOW. If I have to cope with low temperatures here in London the least I could get is some nice snow… right? Well, apparently, mother nature disagrees with me.

5. Christmas lights. I am pretty sure there are very few places as beautiful as London in Christmas. Every time I go to Oxford Street (which is more often than I should) I am overwhelmed by the beauty of all the lights and decorations, it’s so festive and pretty! Hello! Recently I was contacted by Oscar Insurance - who provide a quality health program to New York and New Jersey residents. They asked me if I wanted to do a post about everything I am grateful for this year. I thought the idea was lovely and it would be a good thought to end the year with. Here's everything I am extremely grateful for:

1. INTERNET AND LAPTOPS. My life would not be the same without both of these. I can't even imagine what life would be like without them which I guess is kind of bad... oh well!

2. CHOCOLATE. Life would be sad without chocolate. Chocolate makes everything a hundred times better, if you don't like chocolate we can't be friends. Sorry.

3. CELEBRITIES. This might be a weird one but if there weren't any celebrities, who would I stalk? who would I take outfit ideas from? who would be my phone wallpaper? The struggle!

Now onto a more serious note...

1. FAMILY. I am grateful to have a family that supports me and that I know will always be there for me no matter what.

2. EDUCATION. I don't think there is a day that goes by without me thinking how lucky and fortunate I am to be able to go to such a good university in such an amazing city, it is probably what I am most grateful for.

3. FRIENDS. Having such amazing friends both home and here, life in general (specially revision time!)is much better and worthy. It's also a good excuse not to spend my whole life in front of a laptop...

What are you grateful for this year?

Hey people! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you will have realised how much I love nail polishes. My nails are almost always painted, mainly in winter when nail polishes last considerably longer on my nails as I don’t go to the pool/beach. Even if it’s not officially winter, it doesn’t feel like fall anymore so I thought I would share with you all my favourite nail polishes for winter and the holidays.

1010N by Manhattan. Oh the good old black nail polish. My first ever nail polish was black (obviously it wasn’t this one) and I remember struggling so much to make my nails look decent but I loved it and that’s how my obsession with nail polishes started.

NUDE by Barry M. I wear this colour all year round but I wear much more often in winter. In summer I don’t really wear make up and my outfits tend to be simpler so I like having bold nails. However, in winter I wear a full make up look and more accessorised outfits so I like having nude nails, I think it looks very sleek.

MIDNIGHT SPARKLES by Tanya Burr. I obviously bought this one because it’s Tanya’s but the colour is so lovely. I must say, though, the quality is not great and I think it’s quite overpriced. Anyway, I love the colour and I wear it very often!

WATERMELON by Barry M.  This is a lovely dark green-blue colour. It is from the Gelly Hi-Shine range so it kind of look like gel nails and it lasts on a bit longer than the otherr Barry M polishes.

What's your favourite shade for the holiday season?

Hello everybody! Today's post is all about what I want for Christmas. I love making wishlists about every single possible thing, there's something about putting a bunch of amazing stuff together that really pleases me. So, here you have my Christmas wishlist for 2014!
1. PINK comfy clothes. Every girl loves VS and every girl wishes to be a VS angel but as we cannot all look like Adriana Lima or Lilly Aldridge, we can just walk around the house in PINK sweatpants, they are comfy BUT they still look cute.
2. Canon EOS 1200D. I've wanted a proper camera for ages and to be honest it would be quite useful for my blog.
3.Naked 2 palette. This is probably the best palette in the entire world,  the colours are perfect to use every day and they are so pigmented!
4.They're Real Mascara. This is also known to be one of the best mascaras ever and I want anything that makes my eyelashes look like butterflies.
5.MAC lipstick. I love MAC lipsticks, they are definitely worth what you're paying for and right now I have my eye on one specific shade and that shade is Media.
4. Chelsea Boots. I love booties, I adore my cutout booties but as they have a bit of heel I don't really wear them to uni as I don;t fancy wearing heels when I'm walking around labs for 5 hours non stop. However, these Chelsea boots are soooo pretty and thet look very comfy as well!
5.Portable Hard Drive. A friend recently told me that MacBooks are not made to store stuff and that's completely true. I probably have around 3GB of empty space on mine and that's obviously not good so some more space would be quite nice.

And this is what's on my wihslist this year. What's on yours?

Hello! So decided I would do blogmas as I am a sucker for Christmas. However, I am not going to post every single day as I have no time due to having so many deadlines approaching. I'll keep posting every other day like I am doing now but all of the posts will be, somehow, Christmas related.

I thought that doing a Christmas Tag would be a good way to start this series so, here we go!

1. What is your favourite Christmas film?

I literally love any film that has to do with Christmas but I specially love Home Alone 2 and Santa Clause (all of them).

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Unfortunately, I haven't. You would think it would snow often in London as it's rather cold but it never does.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home with my family but I would like to spend it in New York someday.

4. What is your favourite Christmas song?

I absolutely love 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey and 'Santa Tell Me' by Ariana Grande.

5.Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Yeah always. When I was little I used to open them on the 25th when I woke up but I now always open them on the 24th.

6.Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

Rudolph I, Rudolph II, Rudolph II... I clearly can't.

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

I don't really know if it counts as a tradition but I am SO looking forward to Christmas dinner, I've been craving homemade food for over a week now and it's honestly all I can think about.

8.Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
I don't think they sell real Christmas trees where I live so it's fake, I don't know anyone who has a real one to be honest.

9.What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

Any food that is not British like who even likes mince pies or Christmas pudding? Common people you can do something better. In Spain we have this thing called 'turrón' which is made out of almonds and it is the best thing in the entire world.

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I think giving gifts, purely because lately I don't even know what to ask for Christmas so I'm not really looking forward to getting something - but of course my moms always manages to get me something amazing. I love buying my sister loads of present because I know she loves getting tons of them.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever received?

An iPod Touch about 4 years ago. I don't usually get big presents for Christmas as my birthday is on the 30th of December and that's when I get my 'big' present.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

New York. No doubt.

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I think I'm somewhere inbetween. I don't suck at it but they don't look incredibly good either. They look alright and I try my best so that is what really counts... right?

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

To be hones I cannot remember anything in particular but I remember once when I was little I woke up very early on the 25th and I was scared to go downstairs (where the tree was) because I thought Santa was there and that if I saw him I wouldn't get any presents or something so I just laid in bed until my parents woke up.

15, What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I can't remember but I remember being in the car with my parents going home and telling them that I knew Santa wasn't real. I cannot remember how I figured it out though.

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

Nope. I have never made them for two reasons. First, if you want to achieve something why wait until the new year? Second, I would probably forget about them in about two days.

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

Now that I'm at uni and don't live at home anymore, I like going back for Christmas and see my family and friends again and spend some time with them even though I spend most of my time in my room revising for Jan exams - but let's not think about that now.

So that's my Christmas Tag! Hope it's entertained you for a while.

I tag you all reading this to do it as well!

Hello guys! Correct me if I’m wrong but everyone loves drinking a good hot chocolate in winter, and even more when it’s all Christmassy and festive outside. Over the years (well more like 2 years) I’ve tried to nail my recipe to make the best hot chocolate ever and I think I’ve found it. WARNING: this is definitely not a healthy recipe, in fact, it’s anything but healthy)

What you’ll need

How to do it

  1. Heat up your milk  until it’s quite hot not just warm.
  2. Add 2tsp of the cocoa powder
  3. Add 1tsp of honey, a tsp of nutella and a dash of cinnamon. Stir until the nutella and honey have melted and are completely mixed.
  4. Put as many marshmallows as you like on top (you could use whipped cream as well, but I’m not a fan of it so that’s why I don’t use it) and enjoy your work of art!

Okay so this post was meant to go up on Wednesday but I kind of forgot... oops. Even though these are outfits I put together specially for Thanksgiving they could work for any family dinner or not too fancy event coming up!
Hello! So today I am here to bring you some inspiration. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I'm sure you all Americans are getting excited about all the delicious food you're going to eat (I am indeed jealous...). But you should keep something else in mind other than the food, and that's your outfit. You, of course, want to look cute but you also want to be comfortable as I know you're gonna go crazy at the dinner table. That is exactly why I put these two outfits together!
The first one is a bit more casual and the second on is on the fancier side but you can change the heels for flats and for a not so fancy cross body bag to dress it down. Also, by adding a pair of heels and maybe a gold necklace you could make the first outfit look much fancier.

Jeans:John Lewis
Handbag: Givenchy
Booties: Oasis

Dress: New Look
Necklace: Express
Boots: Fashion Union
Watch: Invaluable
Cross Body Bag: Ted Baker
As you can see I used the same watch for both outfits. This is actually a men's watch from a website I recently came across but despite it being for men I love it and think would look great on a women if styled properly and with the right outfit.
Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year?
